DAHLO is the artistic pseudonym of Marcela Cabrera, a Bogotá-born Venezuelan-American multidisciplinary artist, designer, illustrator, and musician whose creative journey spans more than three decades.

Educated in Graphic Design and Surface Design, her career has traversed fine art, illustration, consumer products, publishing, interactive media, and digital experiences. Along the way, she has contributed to projects for global brands and organizations including Disney, IBM, Microsoft, Hitachi, The American Red Cross, Houghton Mifflin, Vivendi Universal Games, Namco Bandai, and Knowledge Adventure, among others.

Her commercial artwork has received international recognition through awards, exhibitions, and selections associated with MoMA, IBBY Switzerland, the National Public Libraries of Venezuela and Sweden, and the Bologna Children's Book Fair in Italy.

As a fine artist, DAHLO moves freely between abstraction, symbolism, and narrative. Her work emerges through a process of curiosity, experimentation, and dialogue with materials. Paint, glass, collage, found objects, metals, paper, and reclaimed elements become collaborators rather than instruments—each contributing its own history, texture, and voice to the conversation.

Rich with color, layered surfaces, and unexpected juxtapositions, her work explores memory, transformation, resilience, wonder, and the unseen connections between inner and outer worlds. Influenced by music, nature, travel, storytelling, and the beauty found in imperfection, she creates visual ecosystems where imagination and lived experience converge.

Whether expressed through mixed media paintings, mosaics, stained and fused glass, sculpture, murals, or immersive installations, DAHLO's work invites viewers to pause, look closer, and rediscover the extraordinary hidden within the everyday.

She currently maintains an independent art and design practice in California, working as a fine artist, muralist, surface designer, and creative consultant.
